As is the nature of our type of support group, the members tend to be looking for two main things. The first is, when their child has first been diagnosed they want to learn more about the condition, what life holds for their child and themselves. The other are the parents of children who are continuing to have problems and need advice on how to cope with the problems that arise. Both of these two groups are also looking for something else, support and friendship. We try to offer these two in abundance. When their child overcomes their illness or the parents become more confident about it they tend to move on and live their lives. It is always sad to see people leave but on the other hand that it good news because as has been said previously, their child is on the road to a full life.
What we try to do here is to give the stories of those kids that are on that path and those adults that have travelled it a distance. We want to show that your child can have a full, happy and normal life. That they will learn how to handle those outstanding problems and most likely end up with kids of their own worrying about normal every day things like bills, where is my teenage child now, will Sunderland ever win the FA cup again and a whole host of other things. If you would like your story or your childs to appear here then please send it to HMDSN
